Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years following that as general reporter. 1981 was the year she began reporting on for the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional correspondent. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a guest in the TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell joined the panel of the 1988 presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered for the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. She has covered several notable reports over time, including fiscal reform, the budget and The Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell traveled extensively along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
